Notes
Ash glaze
The glaze is mixed from the kiln's own ash. Hardwood ash, washed, then sieved. Nothing else is added for color.
It stays pale on a thick wall and breaks brown where the rim is thin. That line is the only decoration.
The rim takes the color. The foot stays clay.
- Stoneware, fired to cone 10.
- One coat. A second coat hides the break.
- The foot is waxed and wiped, so it does not fuse to the shelf.
The mixing bowl is the piece that shows it most clearly.
